Kim Collier is the founder of JAMU Organic Spa Rituals . She is a great lover of diverse cultures, music, dance, and art. Her eighteen years of dancing introduced her to the importance of health and wellness in general. Kim’s healing arts career began after college, when she commenced nursing studies and earned her license in massage therapy.
In 1986, Kim formed her own company, “Health Arts,” specializing in massage and relaxation therapies and catering to both a private clientele as well as the performing arts and music industry. Kim developed her career in the spa industry and ultimately became spa director for the Pacific Club Kowloon in Hong Kong in 1990, and a new life chapter began in Southeast Asia.
Kim then moved from Hong Kong to Sukabumi, Java, Indonesia, and her dream of living and working in Bali finally became a reality. During this time she became enthralled with the culture and indigenous skincare ingredients of Indonesia and started designing specialized treatments and products for prominent spa resorts in the Southeast Asian region.
In a quest to preserve Asian remedies, while living in Bali, Indonesia, Kim volunteered at the Udiyana University of Indonesia’s Ethnobotany Department, translating recipes and techniques used in traditional medicine and healing.
After returning to the United States in 1998, Kim launched the “Asian Spa Experience” to the spa market under the brand name JAMU Asian Spa Rituals.that was launched at W Hotel • Away Spa in New York City. JAMU now offers over 65 products to a broad range of retail and spa/resort/hotel accounts. The JAMU mission is to honor Asian rituals of beauty expressed through exotic spa treatments, product blends, and Asian accessories.
